One price. You keep what you paid for.
USD 100 buys R2-D3 and twelve months of updates. It renews yearly so the updates keep arriving. When you stop paying, nothing you already have is taken away.
$100USD / year
Perpetual license · 12 months of updates · 2 activations
Checkout is hosted by Stripe and requires a signed-in account, so your license and downloads have somewhere to live. Sign in first if you already have one.
A perpetual license. The software is yours; it does not stop working, and it is not rented.
Twelve months of updates, starting the day you buy.
Auto-renews at USD 100 per year for another twelve months of updates. Cancel any time from your account.
When your update window ends you keep the newest version released inside it — permanently. Nothing is revoked, disabled, or degraded.
Two machine activations per license: a cart and a backup, or two carts.
Applicable tax is calculated by Stripe at checkout.
What the year actually buys.
The subscription is a payment schedule, not the license. The first paid invoice grants the perpetual license and one year of updates. Each later paid invoice extends your update window forward. Nothing ever shortens it, and no failed renewal reaches back and takes a release away from you.
This is deliberate. A DIT should not discover mid-show that a billing state changed what the software on the cart is willing to do. The tool you installed keeps behaving the way it behaved yesterday.
Questions worth answering plainly.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It revokes nothing. Your license stays valid, and every release published on or before the end of your paid update window stays downloadable and installable, forever. You simply stop receiving releases published after that date until you renew.
What counts as an update?
Any release we publish while your update window is open. Entitlement is decided by date, not by version number: if a release went out on or before your update cutoff, it is yours permanently. There is no separate upgrade fee inside your window, and nothing published after it is billed retroactively.
How does activation work?
The desktop app produces an installation id during Setup. You add it on your account page, and the site returns a signed license file to import. One license holds two active installations; re-issuing with both ids replaces the second seat. Activation is a file you can carry — it does not require the cart to be online while you work.
What else do I have to buy?
OffShoot Pro is required and licensed separately — it is the copy engine and the verifier, and R2-D3 does not resell it. DaVinci Resolve Studio is required for the proxy, dailies and LUT stages, because R2-D3 drives Resolve through its scripting API. Frame.io is optional and uses your own account.
What is your refund policy?
We have not settled one yet, and we would rather say so than publish a policy we have not decided. Ask before you buy and you will get the answer in writing.
Is this ready for a paid show?
R2-D3 is an engineering pilot: hardware-tested on Windows, macOS packaging in progress, not production-certified. If that is not a risk you want on a job, wait. The application tells you the same thing when you run it.
Engineering pilot. Hardware-tested on Windows; macOS packaging in progress. Not yet production-certified — and it will tell you so.
Releases and platform status are on the download page. If you want to know exactly what has been tested on hardware and what has not, ask — we will send you the evidence rather than a summary.
